Frontegg Launches API Access Controls to Reduce the Burden of API Management

Here at Frontegg, we’re redefining what should be standard in an identity management platform. Our entitlements engine combines feature flags with robust access controls to create granular permissions to your application. Despite the advanced level of authorization, we realized something was missing… many of our customers also needed a way to authorize access to their APIs. Managing API access is often manual and requires developer time to code the permissions. We are removing this manual burden and are thrilled to announce the launch of API Access Controls —a game-changer for managing API security and authorization.

What are API Access Controls

API Access Controls allows users to configure and enforce authorization policies directly through the Frontegg portal, meaning Developers and Security Engineers no longer need to embed security logic into every microservice. Everything can be managed at the gateway level. This not only significantly reduces developer workload, but also opens up the possibility for non-technical more team members to engage with API management and API security settings.

The Secret Sauce…Combining API Access Controls with Our Entitlements Engine

What happens when you take a sophisticated entitlements engine and combine it with API Access Controls? You get magic…not really, but you do get some insane synergies by combining API Access Controls with feature flags and subscription management.

Need to restrict access to a specific resource? You can do it in seconds.
Want to create a custom feature plan for a customer? Add in APIs with no issue.

We’ll be posting more use cases in the coming weeks, but we’re excited to see how our customers leverage this potential!
